Suntree's mature trees and older driveways mean we're often replacing something that's already failing — we dig past root intrusion and old subbase before we ever set a paver.
A lot of what we install in Suntree replaces something already there — aging concrete, an older paver job that's heaving, or a bed that's been fighting encroaching tree roots for years where the lot has mature trees. Established landscaping means real roots to work around, not landscaping-plan roots. And some Suntree lots back onto open common ground — those yards often want a paver surface that reads clean from both sides of the property, not just the street. We plan the layout around what's already growing, not the other way around.
Where an older driveway or patio comes out, we remove the old base with the surface — root intrusion and settled subbase underneath don't fix themselves under new paver. We compact the new base in lifts, screed about an inch of bedding sand, and fasten edge restraint into that compacted base rather than the sand itself, since a driveway takes far more load than a thick patio ever will. On lots near mature trees we also route drainage around root zones so runoff doesn't pool against them.
What that looks like here
Suntree work, specifically.
Full Removal, Not a Resurface
When an older driveway or patio comes out in Suntree, we pull the failed base with it — roots and settled subbase don't disappear under a new surface. Rebuilding the base is most of the job, even though it's the part you'll never see again.
Planned Around Mature Trees
Root systems on established Suntree lots are real, not theoretical, and they affect where a base can be compacted and where drainage needs to route. We lay out the job around what's actually growing on your lot, not a generic plan.
Clean Sightlines for Open-Backyard Lots
For yards backing onto open ground, we think about how the paver surface reads from both sides — pattern, edge line, and where the hardscape meets the lawn all get planned with that view in mind.
By the numbers
Suntree homes, by the numbers.
The Brevard County tax roll counts 3,284 single-family homes in the Suntree subdivisions. The typical one was built in 1988, and about 88% were built before 2000.
With most homes here past twenty-five years old, many cracked or worn driveways and patios are ready to be replaced with pavers.

Free estimate
Start with someone walking your yard.
We'll measure, look at where the water goes, and leave you an itemized written estimate — anywhere in Suntree. No charge, no pressure.
We have a mature oak close to the driveway — will its roots be a problem?
Possibly, which is why we walk the site before writing the estimate. If roots are close to the planned base, we'll route around them or adjust the layout rather than cutting through a root system that's holding up a tree you want to keep.
Our current driveway is heaving and cracking — can pavers just go over it?
Not if the base underneath is what's failing, which it usually is on an older Suntree driveway. We remove the old surface and the base beneath it together — pavers set over a bad base just repeat the same problem in a few years.
Our yard backs onto open common ground — does that change anything about the install?
Mainly the layout and how the edge reads from that side of the yard — we'll talk through pattern and where the paver line meets the lawn so it looks finished from both directions, not just from your patio door.
